Today was a great day. My son finally got to play catch with my Dad. Three generations. It brought tears to my eyes. My son is starting tee-ball this year for the first time and somehow I was roped into coaching for the first time. It will be interesting to see how I do dealing with 11 four year olds.

The bus riders

I was asked to describe some of the "riders" of this bus I take to work. Most are older Govies. There area few that strike me as odd. There is Lady Freaky Toes. I was the unfortunate one to see this womans feet last summer when she chose to wear sandals. On her one foot her second toe crossed over to her big toe. I saw that and I could not take my eyes off her feet. One of the other unusual creatures is Squinty Ivan. He seems to be Russian and nomatter if it is sunny or overcast his eyes always squint. Very odd. Yesterday he commented on a sidewalk musician that played water glasses and he was captivated. There are many others but I am still collecting info to report on. This willtake many more entries.

Music and memory

Alright I will admit it I an older Gen Xer almost 40. I have three kids and I still remember the song I heard when my girlfriend(now wife of 16 years) went to buy ice the first weekend we were dating. Her parents had a big party for Memorial Day weekend(one of many I would attend) and they were short ice. It was 1986 and we hopped into her sister's MG convertible and listened to Something about You by Level 42. Anything like Mr. Mister, Journey, Van Halen 5150. I hear that music and I am sent back to driving in our old 1975 Firebird (think Rockford Files same car). I just was not that cool. The car had only an AM radio. So I had to use my old GE boom box in the back seat for mood music. I remember playing Mr. Mister Welcome to the Real World on the way to one of out many movies we went to when we were dating. Amazingly she did not run away and I think I was a total loser. She married me and we have been together for 23 plus years.

To work to work I go...

I am a govie that must commute either by bus or the metro to work everyday. I must admit the people especially the bus riders are quite an odd bunch. They complain when the bus is 10 minutes late. To the point of having the driver changed. A few even sprint from the bus to their car to beat the bus out of the park-n-ride. This saves 5 minutes? I am just happy I don't have to drive to work. I guess all of time is so crucial to them like they are going to miss some crap show rerun.

And so it begins...

I am not sure why I have started this but who cares. My sis has gotten me interested in all of this so I thought why not give it a try. I work in a job that requires a lot of writing and for the most part I suck at it! Maybe I can work through these issues as well as many others.
